Daith piercings are found in the ear cartilage’s deepest fold. In addition to being cosmetically appealing, daith piercings are thought to alleviate migraines by activating a relaxing pressure point on the ear.
Daith piercing in some of our Ontario clinics offers a safe and sanitary to piercings done in a non-medical setting. Most clients prefer medical piercing for the safety and security of having it done to a medical standard of care and hygiene.
Anecdotally, daith piercings have been beneficial for migraine sufferers. The fact that the daith piercing is located on an acupressure point in the innermost cartilage fold of the ear may play a role in this. Many people think putting an earring in your daith helps reduce discomfort since it continuously compresses that pressure point.
The healing time for a Daith piercing can range from 4 to 12 months, thus it truly depends on the individual. A six-month healing time is more attainable with the right aftercare and if you don’t fiddle with your piercing.
The daith must be pierced extremely softly and slowly in order to avoid making any mistakes because of its position on the ear. It will take a few more seconds to finish the Daith Piercing.
The daith will remain dull and uncomfortable for a few weeks following the treatment, but careful management will alleviate a lot of this pain.
We offer single-use sterile needle piercings at our Brantford, Burlington, Hamilton, Kitchener, London and St. Catharines locations.
A single-use piercing needle has been carefully crafted to serve this one exact purpose: A safe piercing! It is a gentle and efficient way of getting ears pierced, while also being one of the safest ways to do so. Our piercing needle method can be used to pierce any part of the ear with cartilage or without such as the lobes, tragus, anti-tragus, daith, conch, helix, or rook.
Our sterile needle ear piercing process includes these steps:
The piercing is done with a sterile single-use hollow high-grade stainless steel needle. Our pre-packaged sterilized hypoallergenic jewellery, is then inserted into the catheter (which keeps the piercing open) and is fed through the space created by the needle. This method is quick and virtually painless with a generally shorter healing time. A new sterile needle is used every time, with no risk of contamination from poorly cleaned equipment. A numbing cream can be applied to the ear lobes prior to the piercing to minimizes immediate pain.
Some discomfort and soreness is normal in the days following the piercing, however material pain is unusual. Our doctor is available by phone to address any concerns.
After the medical piercing procedure you will receive detailed printed aftercare instructions, as well as have ongoing access to our aftercare video.
Your doctor or nurse will review the necessary daily cleaning procedure with you to ensure that you know what to expect, and what to do to keep your child (or yourself) free from infection.
In the written aftercare instructions you are advised to clean the new piercing twice a day, using soap and water or Blomdahl Piercing Aftercare cleansing swabs, which are gentle on the skin and easy to use.
You will be given your doctor’s phone number for quick access should you have any questions or concerns during the healing period. Complications like infection are rare with our procedure when the aftercare instructions are followed – and you will have the security of knowing that our doctors are ready to help if needed.
We offer safe daith piercings. Our process is optimized to reduce a chance of infection with minimal discomfort and quick healing time. We always put your health first.
Non medical piercing is more likely to cause infection than a medical piercing method, such as Blomdahl Medical Piercing or Sterile Needle Medical Piercing. Having your daith piercing performed by a medical professional in our Ontario clinics offers a safe and sanitary alternative to piercings done in a non-medical setting. Clients often prefer having a doctor perform the piercing removal procedure for the safety and security of having it done to a medical standard of care and hygiene.
Medical Piercing offers same-week appointments in all seven of our Ontario clinics.
Acupuncture is frequently used to treat migraines, and some people contend that the same acupuncture pressure point in the ear also relates to the digestive system. Many people think putting an earring in your daith helps reduce discomfort since it continuously compresses that pressure point.
